Charles Larkin Flanagan papers, 1917-1921.

Correspondence and newspaper clippings of Charles Larkin Flanagan, reporter for the Chicago Tribune, and an army officer in the American Expeditionary Force in World War I. Most of the letters were written by Flanagan to his mother in Chicago while he served with the A.E.F. in Europe, providing detailed descriptions of his activities and surroundings, including his front-line participation in the final weeks of the war. Also present are clippings from Chicago newspapers announcing the departure of Flanagan and other newspapermen for the front.
